Everett
I was hoping for a different reaction from Aubrey. She didn’t seem fussed at all, but the night had only begun. We still have time. I will keep a close eye on her to see if it does bother her eventually.
The three of us head inside. Hugo is coming towards us as we do.
“I never thought you would be someone I would see again,” he smiles, hugging Tara.
She happily hugs back, “Me neither. It’s great to see you, Hugo.”
“You too.” He replies as they part.
Erica and Tara head inside to get a drink. My little brother’s attention falling on me.
“You two aren’t back together, are you?” he questions, raising his eyebrow.
I shake my head. “No, of course not. She didn’t have any plans, so I invited her along. You know how toxic we were when we were in a relationship.”
“Good, because the two of you should not be in a relationship.”
“I know. Happy birthday, little brother.” I smile, hugging him.
“Thank you. Where is my present?” he chuckles.
I smirk. “It will arrive tomorrow.”
I purchased a new motorbike for him. I had it custom-made.
“Really? I was joking.”
“Yes, so someone will need to keep an eye out.”
Smiling, he pats my back, and we proceed to join the group. We went to the kitchen for a drink. In the corner, I see Aubrey sipping what appears to be neat vodka. Why doesn’t she have a mixer in it? Sensing my gaze, she raises her head. A small smile graces her lips for me. In response, I smirk and wink at her. Rolling her eyes, she shakes her head and exits the kitchen. Her overreaction amuses me. Does she honestly believe she can stay away from me tonight? Absolutely not.
Tara appears by my side. “You have your work cut out for you.”
I sigh, “Oh, I know, please don’t remind me.”
She snickers, handing a scotch to me. I thank her, then drink it in one go. I get a second, and we join everyone else out in the backyard. It is a nice night, still quite warm.
Aubrey is sitting alone in a chair, away from everyone else. She seems unhappy to be here; perhaps she’s not very good at socializing.
“Erica, is your cousin okay? She appears anxious.”
“Yes, she is. She suffers from anxiety. She finds socializing difficult, but a couple of drinks will help her relax.”
Part of me is drawn to her, but I don’t want Hugo and Erica to think I’m acting suspiciously. I sigh, then greet the other guests. I knew most of them. By the time I finish, Aubrey hasn’t moved.
“You should go over and check on her,” Tara whispers.
“Hugo and Erica may work out I am up to something.”
“Don’t worry. I will make you look like a good guy, only wanting to check on her to them. Go.” She nudges.
I sneak over while Hugo and Erica are busy chatting. Aubrey appears lost in her own thoughts. I clear my throat, and she immediately looks at me.
“Everett, what do you want?” she sighs.
I take a seat next to her, “I wanted to check you were alright. You look like you don’t want to be here.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to be here. I don’t do well in crowds.” She shrugs.
“We could sneak off somewhere. You don’t need to be surrounded by people, only you and me.”
“Are you seriously hitting on me right now?” she snaps.
I hold my hands in the air. “No, not at all.”
I wasn’t, not really. Would I like to get her alone, away from prying eyes, of course, but I know we aren’t in the place or time for me to have another motive in doing so.
“Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be with Tara?”
“Tara is fine on her own. She isn’t my girlfriend.”
“Maybe not, but she is your companion for the night. You should go back to her. I am fine alone. I like being alone.” She whispers and turns away from me.
Hmm, maybe I should leave her alone. I don’t want to piss her off too much this early in the night. I stand, say goodbye and do as she asks. I leave her be. Her eyes follow me as I walk away. I smirk because she is checking me out. I return to Tara, who’s with Hugo and Erica.
“Stay away from her,” Hugo reminds.
I shake my head. “I was making sure she was okay. Calm down.”
Judging by the intense look in his eyes, it seems like he doesn’t trust me. “I’ll be watching you closely.”
Ignoring him, I take Tara’s hand and guide us away. I am not a child! He needs to stop talking to me like one. He sometimes forgets that I am older than he is.
“How did it go?”
“Not good. She told me to leave her alone.” I groan.
“Maybe you should give up on this one. Find someone else to pursue.”
“Nope! Not happening. She wants me. She isn’t ready to admit it. She also doesn’t want to betray my brother after he told her to keep her distance.”
“What makes her so special?”
“I didn’t say there was anything special about her. It bothers me when I don’t get what I want.”
“Maybe this is one thing you won’t get.” She snickers.
Why would she say such a thing? She’s known me for ages. She is well aware of my ability to get what I want. I can try again later once Aubrey seems more relaxed being here. I need to figure out how to spend time alone with her. I am certain she has been thinking about me for the last few days, especially after the heated kiss we shared. She can get it any time she wants and more.
“Yes, that isn’t possible. It may take longer than what I am used to, but I will make her mine sooner or later.”
“Make her yours? What, are you looking for more than one night?”
“I haven’t decided yet. I need to see how the s*x is between us.”
However, I am drawn to the forbidden elements of it. It would be a lot of fun and a turn on. It’s been a while since I’ve had a passionate affair. The last time was with a married woman until her husband fell out, and they moved away. I was glad when they did because I can’t be assed with drama. It’s not my problem if a wife cheats on her husband; it’s his. He’s failing to meet her needs and desires. I don’t mind being that guy for them.
It will be a different kind of forbidden with Aubrey, but forbidden all the same.
“The poor woman has no idea what she is in for.”
“She is for fun and a lot of hot, incredible s*x. I am sure she won’t mind.” I chuckle.
Tara nods in agreement. “She is in for a treat for sure. Your skills in the bedroom are the reason I’m still here. If you weren’t so good, I would have stopped a long time ago.”
“I’m addictive. What can I say?”
She doesn’t deny it because it is the truth. Any woman who has been with me has had the time of their life without a doubt. This is one of my strengths, and no one would argue otherwise.
