Dear readers, I’m pleased to introduce my new story, and I hope you'll enjoy it. This story contains some mature content that could be disturbing.. Please be aware of this before reading. Aurora - Shiloh I ran into the forest as soon as I shifted. I ran as fast as I could. My wolf, Shiloh, was desperate to be free. She was a big, beautiful, pure white she-wolf with my green eye colour. Her personality was different from mine. She was strong and stubborn. She was a real fighter, unlike me, who was a shy and obedient type. I couldn't let her out often, and every time I was able to do that, I'd have to make sure no one saw her. I didn't know what would happen if they found out about her existence, but I knew they wouldn't understand, because those kinds of pack members like me shouldn't have wolves. My name is Aurora Hale. I was only 20 years old. I had long blonde, nearly white hair and green eyes. My home was the Blue Blood Pack. It was the most powerful and the biggest pack in the Scottish Highlands. Our Alpha was very kind, and he managed his pack as if it were the most important role in his life. I heard rumours about his appearance. They said he was handsome. I recall that once, Sister Anne allowed me to attend one of his yearly speeches, but I only saw him from a distance. I only remembered that he is tall, has dark hair, and is muscular. The rumours also said that he had a vast, pure black wolf with warm brown eyes, called Noah. I have no memory of my parents. I was a healer, and I grew up in a vast building, which they called a hospital. We were in the 16th century, and we've got the latest equipment to work with. The Alpha took special care of this building. His warriors often needed to fight around his territory, and he wanted to make sure they'd get the best treatment. The building looked more like a monastery, even if I didn't like it at all, that was the place I called home. Healers of a pack were very important, as they became doctors and nurses who could help wounded warriors and sick pack members recover and become healthy again. Even if we were really important, we never got respect. I think the reason for that was that, as I mentioned, we had no wolves, or perhaps we had never had contact with them. But I was different. It wasn't just that I had Shiloh, but the Moon Goddess has also gifted me with an incredible healing power. Healers also had no mates. We were born to study, to care for patients, and to save lives. That's all. We weren't allowed to have any friends, make contact with males, study anything else, or have dreams. We were expected to live an empty life and to respect our strict rules. When a healer reached the age of 24, they were searching for a match for them, and they needed to engender a successor as soon as the female was in heat. Usually, one heir was enough, but sometimes, when it was needed, or the successor seemed to be really strong and healthy, the exact match had to provide more than one. It didn't happen often. I never understood why we were forced to live like this. I hated our rules, especially this one. I still had four years till then, but to think about making physical contact with a stranger, till I'm getting inseminated, made me feel terrified. Once we had a conversation with Sister Anne about this rule, but she said, "I'll be fine." She said that when a female is in heat, she doesn't think about who she is sleeping with; the only thing on her mind is to get pregnant. Sister Anne, our leader, ensured that I received the highest education from a young age. She always said my gift cannot be wasted. I always felt that power was in me, but I didn't know how to use it. Only the Sister knew about it, but she said it was better to keep my power hidden. She was afraid that others would try to use her. I was afraid of that too, so I never told anyone that I was different; I just tried to live like a normal healer. Shiloh ran fast. We ran up to our favourite hill. We loved watching the beautiful landscape while sitting or lying on the ground. As I saw the beauty of nature through Shiloh’s eyes, and I breathed the clear air in, I felt my heart and soul were filling up with the happiness of freedom and beauty. The hills and the huge loch looked mesmerising, especially this time at sunset. When it was time to go back, I begged Shiloh to leave. It always took a long time to make her listen to me and do what I asked her. On the way back, she was wasted. She sometimes stopped to roll and dig in the soil, then she ran again. I was worried she was going to pass the border of the territory, but it didn't matter how I tried to ask her to be good, she didn't listen. Only the Moon Goddess knew what kind of creatures we could meet if we went out of the land. There were many vampires and rogues, and I saw the warriors in the hospital who met them. Their appearance made that obvious; those creatures weren't friendly at all. Finally, when she reached the border, she just ran on the line, but I wanted her to go back instead because there were many guards around who could see Shiloh. While Shiloh enjoyed running, we both smelled a sweet scent. The scent was unfamiliar, yet pleasantly so. I had to force myself not to go in that direction. I could feel that Shiloh felt the same. While we were still running, we also smelled the scent of other wolves. These wolves belonged to the Blue Blood pack for sure, but the scents were mixed with some unfamiliar ones as well. I was begging for Shiloh to let it go, turn around and try to run away, and this time she listened to me. We heard a few wolves howling, so Shiloh ran faster to be able to disappear in time. I only felt calm when we arrived back near the hospital. Shiloh went to the tree where I left my clothes, and she shifted. “I hope you know what kind of trouble we were in at Shiloh.” “And didn't I leave on time? Yes. So you don't have to worry about that anymore. Calm down, Aurora. I know what I'm doing.” “You could have gotten us both in trouble.” “Is it good for you to worry all the time?” “Shiloh, they could have killed us if they had caught us.” “But we are here. We came back in time, and we are in one piece.”
