"Auntie!" Archie yells as he runs to her, and he throws his arms around her.
Gabriel's Mom seems to be caught off guard. I'm totally shocked as she gently pulls Archie's arms from around her.
She holds him by the shoulders and stares at him.
"You're alive? I thought I lost you for good. What happened?"
"I ran away from Aunt Karisa's house because thieves broke in. I didn't know what to do or where to go, but then I found my moms, and they took me in."
"I've been looking for you." Gabriel's Mom sobs. "I looked everywhere."
"What the hell is going on?" I ask her with a slight head shake, and she's quick to force a smile.
"Oh, nothing. I, huh, knew his aunt."
"What aunt?"
She smiles at Archie.
