The door creaked open as Sebastian twisted the knob. He took one last look up at my stiff form still on the stairs before disappearing past the door. He didn't shut it behind him and left it ajar. It could be he wanted me to follow or didn't care if I did. I finally willed my legs to go down the stairs and after him, but I paused when I arrived at the entrance of the doorway. Narrow stairs stood before me, leading down into pitch darkness. The light from the foyer only helped illuminate the top of the stairs.
