Emily clamped her lips shut, silently watching Lucas on the hospital bed, his little brows scrunched from the pain.
She couldn't risk it. If this man found out, who knows if he'd take her child away.
"Yes, he's mine and Benjamin's."
"Stop lying. You and Benjamin were never married—how could you even have a kid together?"
"We had a wedding overseas, just to stay out of your radar," Emily sneered faintly. "If he's not Benjamin's, then whose kid do you think he is?"
William paused, clearly thrown off. He didn't say a word more—just turned and left, his back flustered and defeated.
Lucas stayed at the hospital for a couple more days under observation. The doctor said he was good to go, but Emily still felt uneasy, so she extended his stay for two more days.
