Chapter 12 Michi tried calling him back several times during the next three days, but Birk made a point of not answering. He didn’t even respond to Arthur’s calls, fearing that the woman might try to reach him through the robot as she’d done before. Ignoring the robot was also a form of revenge for what Birk considered a massive betrayal on Arthur’s part. He never should have played those recordings for her, he thought. Those were private and personal. He had no right to share them. What irked him the most was that Michi had been allowed a glimpse into his soul, while he had no corresponding insight into her own motivations.
