“This is Katherine. She’ll be working with us starting today,” Sharlyn, the head of the Interior Design Department, introduced me to the team.
I gave them a polite wave and a friendly smile as they offered a few light claps—more out of courtesy than enthusiasm. There were only a few of them present, about half the team. Understandable—it was a Monday morning, and the others were likely out on field work.
Sharlyn turned back to me. “Feel free to take any vacant seat you like. Everything you need to know should be in your job description. For now, I’ll assign you to the team that’s currently short on people.”
