“Micah.” I called after my mate, but the distance between us was stretched far. My heart leaped seeing him after so long a time, and I wished to hold him, to tell him the words I have never said.
I walked towards him, desperate to close this gap between us. I needed to behold his face, to hold him one last time before I could fully let him go. So I walked faster.
It was, however, useless. With each step I took, he moved five more forward, almost looking like I was walking backward. He was slipping right before my eyes.
“Wait!” I cried, breaking into a run, pushing past the invisible barrier that was holding me down. “Micah!”
