A New Understanding
I walked gingerly into my room, Sophie trailing behind me. My back ached with every shift, the after effect of the punishment was now beginning to tell.
“I don’t suppose you have more of that wonderful balm, do you?” I asked hopefully, a small smile tugging at my lips.
Sophie blushed, looking sheepish. “I wasn’t supposed to give you that.”
“That’s what makes you brave,” I said, rubbing the top of her arm softly. My wolf, Silver, stirred within me, always tactile and affectionate. She wanted me to nuzzle Sophie in gratitude. I resisted the urge, knowing humans might find such behavior odd.
