Chapter Forty
“Echo, baby, wake up” Lucifer’s voice pulls me out of my sleep.
I sit up, groaning out at my lack of energy.
“How are you feeling?” Lucifer asks me. I don’t respond. He’s sitting on the couch opposite me, offering me a small smile.
“Echo, you can’t ignore me. You’re mine.”
Except, I’m not. I haven’t completed the mating with him. I can still choose someone else, or not choose at all.
“No, Lucifer. I am not yours. We haven’t completed the mating, which means I can still change my f*****g mind. Don’t think you have any claim over me. And if you don’t take the bracelet off right now, once you do take it off, I’m gone.”
“Then it’s never coming off” he growls.
I snort. “Yeah. Tell that to mother nature when I summon her. She’ll be able to get it off in no time flat.”
