The morning came too early.
I didn't want it to. I thought that maybe if night stayed a little longer that I would be able to avoid this nightmare, but it seemed to me that I was wrong. There was no leave in this. I was stuck here.
Sleep had been shallow, if it came at all. And no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't bring myself to get some rest, not after the long day. Especially after a long day.
The bed was soft, the blankets expensive, but nothing in this place could make me feel at home. Still, I dressed with care, tying my hair back in a sleek twist, choosing something simple, neutral. Not too bold. Not too passive.
