Alisha is asleep when I get to the hospital.
What gets my attention, however, is Tiana who is seated beside the bed watching her sleep.
I raise an eyebrow when she looks at me.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to see her before I left but she was already asleep. She's so beautiful."
"I know."
"Adam, I talked to Mom last night. She's very annoyed with you."
"You're saying that like I'm supposed to care."
"Maybe you should."
"Would you listen to her if she was against you marrying Levi?"
"Hell no."
"Good. Then it's settled."
She gently tucks Alisha's hair behind her ears before she talks again.
"Your girlfriend should be out of the hospital in a day or two. The fever is gone, no broken bones, and she's a very strong one. She's recovering so fast."
