The tension slowly melted off Ethan as we talked, but it came back too quickly, making him stand straighter as he took two steps away from me.
There’s so much he hasn’t told me, and so much that I didn’t realize he was dealing with. I have no idea how to help him, so I just pull him back into another hug, hoping it will help.
After a minute, Ethan pulls back and I watch in surprise and shock as he pulls his jersey over his head. His bare chest makes my breath catch in my throat, but I’m jolted out of my shock when he slides the jersey over my head and onto me.
“What?”
“Wear this,” he says, straightening the uniform out. “No one will stop you while you’re wearing this. You can go anywhere you want in the building with this on, and no staff will mess with you again.”
