Ethan Stepping foot onto my land and then into my pack house this time is different. The usual zing of anticipation is dulled, almost as if it has become numb after Fiona left. It doesn’t matter that she’s never been here or that she’s never fully been part of my pack. There’s something missing now. There’s a large hole that none of my usual pack members could fill. I rub at the ache in my chest, wishing the now-constant pain in the mate bond would grow numb as well. Though, at the same time, I hope it stays around.
