THE ELABORATE PLAN

1435 Words
Kendra sat in one of the chairs opposite the Alpha's huge one, her stockinged legs thrown casually over his desk as she watched him pace in the office. Killian was angry. That much the female-Beta could tell, but who exactly was he angry with? She understood that the Moon Goddess had made things worse for the Alpha, putting the whole pack in danger like that... but she kind of understood that the deity had tried to act in favor rather than against, as Killian thought. If anyone had to be blamed, it was Aphrodite for not being able to let things go. "What am I going to do now, Ken? What the f**k am I supposed to do?" Killian lamented, sweeping his dark curls away in frustration. The Alpha was pissed. Kendra took her legs off the desk and stood up— her mother would probably be turning in her grave if she saw her sitting down like that... in such an unladylike manner. Oh, but Kendra was no lady. She loved herself an adventure... she thrived on challenges, and so she had claimed the hardest of them all— becoming the first female-Beta ever recorded in history— battling able-bodied male wolves, and loving every bit of it. Maymunah had left them a long time ago. She wanted to see if some sacrifices could get the Goddess of love to change her mind, and she had left Kendra alone to deal with the intensity of the Alpha's fury. Kendra took a look at their surroundings. The whole office had been trashed! The only things still standing were the desk and the chairs— those had been made with formidable wood, and they could withstand a little manhandling— or in this case, wolfhandling. "Alright, Kill. That's enough!" She ordered. Their friendship allowed her to get away with a lot of things, even though they both knew that she was no match for him. But Kendra was wise enough to show this side only in times like this— when they were alone, and he needed to be called out on his bullshit. "I know you're upset," She acknowledged. "You have every right to be. But trashing your office isn't going to remedy the situation, Kill. We have to come up with a plan. And fast." "The whole pack is at stake now, Kendra!" He practically screamed in her face. Any other wolf would have flinched, but not Kendra. "I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. And it's my family's fault." "If it's anyone's fault, we all know who it should be, but Killian, we can find you love. We can do this without Aphrodite's blessing." Kendra tried. "You know that's impossible, Ken." The Alpha refuted. "You know that love, marriage, and children are a sanctity that only she can bestow on her chosen ones." Kendra pursed her lips. "I didn't peg you as one who takes things lying down, Kill." She lashed out, her brown eyes shining in anger. "I'm not." Killian roared. "Good. Then act like it, and stop lamenting like a p***y. We all know that's not going to solve a f*****g thing!" Killian panted, struggling very hard to keep his wolf down and under control. He wanted to lash out at the Beta, but he knew she was right, that she was just acting with his interests at heart. When he had gotten his heartbeat to a human level and the color of his irises had changed from their frightening silver to their normal blue, he sighed. "What do we do now, Ken?" Kendra looked up at him and shot him a grin. "I think I have just the thing in mind." **** "Are you insane?!" Killian exploded after hearing Kendra's 'elaborate' plan. "No. I'm not doing it." He declared conclusively, his fine head bobbing to the left and right. "That's our only option, Kill." "No. There has to be another way. You know how these women are, Ken. They faint when their corset is too tight, they faint when they hear bad news. Do you think without Aphrodite's blessing, they'd love me? Especially when for most of our courtship period, I'd be a monster?" Kendra chuckled. "One thing I know women love after Love, Killian... is power. And you have that. Trust me, it's going to work. And a monster? You may be a lot of things; a jerk, an arrogant bastard, a stoic..." "Okay, you've insulted me enough. What's your point?" Kendra grinned, "My point is that you're everything, but a monster, Killian... and they will see that too." The Alpha pondered over the she-wolf's words, begrudgingly admitting to himself that there was a semblance of truth to her words. "Time is of the essence though, Ken... the red moon is fast approaching." Kendra smirked. He was warming up to her idea! "I know... that's why you'll court many women at once." She declared. "We'll set different times for you to meet up with them. At least one of them will fall through, you'll see." One of them had to! She didn't say this part out loud though, not wanting to come off as doubtful. She wanted the Alpha to have faith, so he could put in his all... and he definitely didn't need any negative energy or uncertainty. "Alright fine." Alpha Killian sighed. "I'll do it. Get the women lined up, and then let me know." He made to leave the office, but stopped in his tracks. "Thanks for helping me out, Ken. I honestly don't know what I'll do without you." Kendra grinned. Killian rarely got sentimental like this. "Anytime, Alpha." She watched the broad wolf close the door behind him, and then the smile disappeared from her face. What had she done? How was her plan going to work? Where was she even going to start? How was she even going to get women to agree to this craziness? Her mother had always said she was impulsive, acting out and doing things on a whim without thinking of the implications. She was starting to see that now. As it was now, the lives of everyone in the pack rested on the success of her plan, she had even given the Alpha hope once more. She was going to have to see it through. As Kendra settled into the chair and reached for a parchment, a quill pen and some ink, her thoughts strayed back to her parents again. Her father was an alpha... part of the first generation that had been struck by the werewolf curse— just like Killian's father had been. All his life, he had been on the run, fleeing from country to country... from continent to continent... looking for a place he could live without being persecuted. Born a full-blooded Englishman, Warrick Sullivan often wondered what he could have possibly done wrong in his other life to have been cursed so, but all of those thoughts seized the day he met Kendra's mother. Mirielle had caught his eye and attention, being a black ex-slave and having the wolf's curse had been quite tough on her, but the woman had managed to survive. She was also an alpha. Together, they had managed to form a pack and everything was nothing short of perfect. Warrick felt like he finally belonged, and honestly speaking, so did all their pack members. Aphrodite had blessed them with love, and then they gave birth to Kendra. But things suddenly took a turn for the worst. The pack Warrick had managed to form with the help of his wife was completely annihilated by a faction called the Curers, who saw the wolf's curse as a threat and sought to destroy everyone who had been affected. Warrick and his wife had barely managed to escape with their child. They stumbled across the Silver Crest Pack by accident and had been warmly received, And the rest was history. Kendra took a deep breath, dipped the quill pen into the inkhorn, and then she began to write: Alpha Killian's Courting Schedules. She leaned back to examine her title, chewing her lips thoughtfully. No. It didn't quite sound right. Besides, anyone would know what it was about should they stumble across it! Kendra nodded. Her subconscious was right. Canceling the long list of words, she wrote: Kill these dates. A grin made its way onto her face. This was perfect! No one was going to suspect a thing, even if they saw the parchment. She just had one last thing to do now: She had to handpick the candidates!
