Chapter 2 : Jonathon Smith

John's P O V :

I woke up feeling nothing but despair. It had been a week since I went to college. The college itself was nice; Ulrich University For Young And Gifted. Our college had so many departments and students. From vampires to werewolves and witches, even some dragons and shape-shifting snakes, our college had them. We humans only comprised one-tenth of the total attendance. Most of the supernatural creatures were nice and good, but some of them were nothing but bullies and assholes. There was an Alpha named Marco who had been bugging me since the moment I stepped foot in the college.

I finished my morning routine, took a bath and put on a black shirt along with black jeans. I left my hair uncombed because I like my hair messy and disheveled. I went downstairs and saw my granny making breakfast. I had already told her a hundred times not to do any chores, but this old lady doesn't listen to a thing.

" Granny, how many times have I told you not to make breakfast anymore ? " I asked as I stood near her. She flashed me one of her big tooth smiles, but that was not going to work on me today.

" I know I know " she said softly. My granny was seventy years old and my grandpa was seventy-six years old. Both of them took care of me, nurtured me, fulfilled every demand. My parents left me in this world when I was only five years old and since then my grandparents have been my everything. My entire world revolved around them. Even though they bore me to death with their silly jokes, I still love them more than anyone could imagine.

" You are not going to get younger granny. The doctor advised you to rest and here you are making breakfast even when I clearly told you not to " I said, looking at her.

" That Doctor does not know anything. I am fine see. I made waffles and omelets. Take a seat " she said, smiling towards me.

" Let me go and get grandpa first " I said, kissing her forehead. I headed towards my grandparent's room and saw my grandfather applying some lotions on his face.

" Grandpa, what's this " I asked him.

" Billy told me putting this on your face would make you more handsome. Here, take some " he said smilingly, and handing me the lotion.

" I am already handsome and so are you. We don't need this " I said, chuckling.

" Suit yourself. I want to be more handsome " he said, smirking, and I almost laughed. After a heavenly breakfast, I bid both of them goodbye and headed for university. There was a function today organized by the professors of our college to give prizes to some of the gifted students. Fortunately or unfortunately, I was one of them, since I scored the highest mark in my high school and for that, I got a full scholarship to Ulrich University. There was no way my grandparents could afford this. I looked around and saw our extravagant college was shining with all the decorations. From the balloons to the tables, the flowers, decorations every thing was top notch. There was no doubt they spent a huge amount of money organizing this event.

" John " someone yelled my name and I turned my head to see it was Sky. She was the only friend I made in a week.

" Morning Sky ", I greeted her as she pulled me into one of her bone-crushing hugs.

" Morning John " she said excitedly.

" Why are you so happy today ? " I asked her. Even though she was normally happy and chirpy, today she was literally glowing.

" I just saw Luca on my way here " she said, flashing her eyelashes.

Oh God ! Not Again !

Luca was the beta and friend of my bully, Alpha Marco. Both of them were downright hunky and they both knew it. Sky had been crushing on Luca since the moment she saw him.

" He is bad news, Sky " I said.

" I know I know " she said.

" Let's go to class " I said and she nodded her head. Unfortunately, all of our classes for today were suspended due to the function which would happen after three hours. I did not want to waste three hours in college, doing nothing, so I wanted to head back home. But Sky suggested we should explore our college, roam around a bit and see some interesting things. I had no interest in doing any of those things but I could not say no to her poppy dog eyes. She cheered loudly when I agreed to stay. Both of us started from the main campus and then visited the campus of the other division. I personally liked the campus and architecture of the werewolf sections, while Sky liked the architecture of the Vampire sections. We spent almost two and a half hours exploring this whole place and, after that, went to the cafeteria for some food. Both of us ordered sandwiches with cold coffee. After our stomachs were full, we went towards the main ground. There were hundreds of chairs for different factions of students and we took out seats. A few moments later, all the guests arrived. After a lengthy, inspiring speech from everyone, the function finally started. The purpose was to give some prizes and gifts to those students who were talented and have a promising future ahead. Fortunately, I was one of them, but I had to wait for my turn since they started from the Werewolf faction. This whole university runs on the funding of some werewolf kings. That's why wolves always get the best treatment. After what seemed like an eternity, our turn came. I saw Jack getting his prize and gifts.

" Jonathan Smith for his excellent talent in Mathematics and Chemistry " the announcer said, and I stood up. I heard the round of applause and Sky's loud cheers as I made my way towards the stage. After reaching the stage, I greeted everyone. The esteemed guest who was supposed to give me my gifts stood like a statue looking at me. The professor standing next to him said something in his ear and he cleared his throat loudly. He gave me my gifts and I left the stage after greeting everyone again. I could feel his eyes on me as I made my way towards my seat. Sky hugged me and cheered loudly. Since I had already received my prizes, there was no point in being at college. I headed home and both my grandparents were so happy seeing the prizes. After a quick lunch, I took a nap because I had to go to the bakery shop in the afternoon.
