"Ugh!" Riya whimpers in pain. "Please stop. You're hurting me!"
Her eyes meet mine. They're puffy and teary and they have a red-ish tinge from all the crying.
"Help me, Reid. Make it stop!"
I want to move; to tear the monster away from her, to make the pain cease.
But I can't.
I'm tied up by invisible bonds. I try to break free but it's damn near impossible. I bare my teeth, furiously fighting the fastenings that are holding me in place.
"Reid!" Her cry of pain makes me look up again. "Help me!"
Why can't I move? What the hell is holding me down? Riya needs my help, yet I'm freaking helpless myself. I hate feeling so helpless, so vulnerable; so not in control.
"Don't touch her!" I yell when I somehow find my voice. "I'll f*****g kill you!"
