Ace's POV
"You left me no choice, Beta. I won't kill her." I grudgingly let her go, but instead of her thanking me for my mercy, she did something else.
"Stand up, Mate," she mumbled, pulling him up. "You don't have to beg him on my behalf. No one wants a fool as their king."
"What?" I roared. "How dare you? How dare you call me a fool?" I was about to attack her when I heard my mother call out to me.
"What do you think you are doing, son?" she inquired. "Are you trying to attack her?"
What the heck? Why was she here?
"No, Mother." I stood straight, keeping my anger at bay. "I dare not."
"Queen mother," Jenny called her. She fell on her knees. "Please."
