No matter how much I try to act natural, Jake always has this heavy aura around him that makes me feel… I don’t even know. Uncomfortable? Uneasy? It’s like he’s always carrying something I can’t see.
Even after knowing I didn’t kill that boy, his presence still gets something under my skin.
“How long has it been? You don’t reply to my texts?” Jake said, pushing himself off the wall. Rick was beside him, his face cold like always.
I shifted back, my heel scraping the floor, with my heart thumping louder in my ears. My fingers curled slightly against my side, keeping my distance.
