“What!” Ryder’s eyes widened, staring at the man in front of him like he had just said the most unbelievable thing. His chest felt heavy, and his fingers curled unconsciously against his sides.
“Why do you look so shocked? Remember he wanted to hand you over to some people just some hours ago,” the man said again. Ryder swallowed hard, the sound loud in his own ears, before parting his lips.
“It’s—”
“Uh uh,” the man stopped him.
“It’s not like I can’t kill him myself. Since he worked with my rivals, he has also become my enemy. If you think you can’t do it, then go. I don’t have to work with you.” He started walking out of the room. His footsteps echoed, each one pulling him closer to the door. He had almost reached the entrance when Ryder’s voice stopped him.
