NORA’S POV Sleep refused to come. I tossed on my bed for what felt like the hundredth time, the sheets tangled around my legs like they were conspiring against me. My room was dark, lit only by the faint glow leaking in through the curtains. But my mind, my mind was loud. Restless. Crowded. Daniel’s face hovered behind my eyes the moment I shut them. “Daniel, are you okay?” I had asked him that. Not once. Not twice. Too many times to count. And like always, he gave me that same small smile, the one that never quite reached his eyes. “I’m fine.” A lie so soft, so polished, it almost sounded true. Almost. “Go to bed, Nora.
