Elsie’s finger paused right before she hit the lock screen button. Her eyes fixed on the message, and it was like the steam from the hot pot had kicked her heartbeat into overdrive.
Olivia leaned in like a goalie guarding the net from William's goal attempt, craning her neck to peek. “What did he send? Flirting with you again?”
“Nope.” Elsie quickly locked the screen.
Daniel tugged her back into her seat. “You’re staring at your phone like that right in front of me. You think that’s cool?”
“You don’t get it,” Olivia cut in. “He’s my lifelong nemesis, okay?”
Elsie didn’t manage to reply to that message. She took a sip of water, eyes flicking back toward William’s table, only to see the two girls who were chatting with him had already left.
