She tugged at the shackles, even though it bit deep into her ankle and drew blood. She was seething, angry at Stephanie for escaping but even angrier at herself. How on earth had she allowed this to happen? She should have just killed her child and been done with it. In all honesty who would have even noticed her missing? It's not like Stephanie had a huge amount of friends. She sighed and sat, eyeing the shackle bitterly, aware that the key was across the room still and out of her reach. What a fool she had been.
