We got into the car, and Adam drove as we left the pack territory. It took about an hour to reach a small town, where Adam parked outside a fairly nice hotel that wasn’t too extravagant.
I was somewhat impressed that he didn’t choose a flashy hotel for her stay. We got out of the car and started walking toward the room.
“You’re really not going to hurt her, are you?” Holden asked.
“Regardless of what you believe, I do have a little impulse control,” I replied.
“Good,” he said.
Adam then opened the room with the spare key, and we walked inside.
We began searching the room, checking the bathroom, closets, and everywhere else.
“She’s not here,” I said.
“She must have known we were coming,” Adam suggested.
