Adam managed to calm down when he realized why I was so uncomfortable with him staying with Bentley. He understood that he would have to rebuild my trust, which was going to be challenging.
Whenever I start to trust him, something always goes wrong that makes me doubt him again. I had no reason to believe this situation would be any different.
However, I told Adam that I wouldn’t ban him from the territory anymore. I would let the warriors know that he was allowed here. He was grateful for that, and I could see him staring at Bentley while I held him.
I hated how it made me feel to see him look at the baby. He wasn’t upset about having a child; he was genuinely interested in Bentley. I think that made it even harder for me to stay angry with him.
