When I went back inside, I took the bassinet upstairs with me. After that, I went to take a shower and get ready for bed.
Adam was in the spare bedroom, and when I stepped out of the bathroom, I was drying my hair with a towel when I heard the front door slam shut.
I walked out of my bedroom and saw Adam in the hallway as well. Cautiously, I approached the stairs and peeked over the edge, just in case someone was there to attack me. After all, Opal had been in the house earlier that night, and I wasn’t sure if she was still around.
“Henry,” I called out.
“Hey, cus. How’s it going?” he replied, tripping over his own feet and falling to the ground.
I walked down the stairs, and Henry managed to get back to his feet, clearly drunk.
