It was dark outside when Lieutenant Jack Harwell parked his car in front of his home. Exhausted from a long day, he exited the vehicle. A cool rush of air breezed against his face, reminding him winter was just around the corner. He loved the cool nights, and the warm Indian summer days they'd been having. September had always been his favorite time of year when the leaves began to change color like a vivid oil painting.
