Checking his phone, he saw who was calling. It was Detective Gerard checking in on their victim. Bradshaw noticed Jane straining to hear his side of the conversation. He saw no reason to add to her anxiety and pointed toward the sofa at the end of the hall to let her know he was leaving. She nodded and gave him a slight wave as he strode past the other gurneys down the hall.
Bradshaw ended his call and shuffled back down the hallway toward Jane's bed. She was gone! A sudden panicked feeling tugged at his heart. He blew out a hefty breath of air, trying to convince himself not to jump to conclusions. Had they taken her for testing? But wouldn't he have seen them take her away from where he sat?
