I don't think I have ever been this relieved to get a call from my best friend, whom I hadn't spoken to in weeks. The moment a Facetime call displayed on my computer, I abandoned the work I was doing and picked it up immediately, probably because a tiny part of me was willing to let out what was wrong with me.
“Hey, man!” Aiden had a wide grin plastered on his face, his eyes twinkling with so much excitement that rubbed off on me a little but it soon became clear that the reason for that smile wasn't particularly me. The stunning woman who poked her head into the video solidified that thought.
“Hey, Axel.” she waved at me.
“Hey, Carmen. It's so good to see you.” I grinned.
“I'll leave you boys to talk. Love you, babe.” She planted a kiss on his lips and slipped out of his space
