Chapter 2 - Same, Same

*Georgina's POV* --- "Hi! Mornin', Gin! Have the other girls arrived already?" Ken greeted me as she also went out of her car that she parked beside mine. It's still thirty minutes early before our classes will start. "Good morning too, Ken! Nope. I'm absolutely sure that Bethany and Ruby are still in their PJs right now." I replied and she leaned in to kiss my cheek. She's always the early bird. "Yeah. Do you think we could survive in a zombie apocalypse if those two are with us?" She let out and I laughed with her as we walk inside the seniors' building. "Well, they will be the reason for our group's extinction," I told her, and yep, that is how slowpokes are our other best friends. We have been friends since forever because our parents are best friends too. And, I'm grateful to have them as my pals through hard times and good times. They might be so foolish sometimes, but I like it. Because I'm worse when my mood strikes, and that leaves them no choice but to deal with it. --- As we make our way to our lockers, Ken stopped by in front of the bulletin board to look for something. I looked at the shitty things posted, and it's just the upcoming activities and some announcements. "Do you think our basketball team would get to the championship?" She asked me and I just shrugged. I'm not really into sports and I don't give a shit if they will get there or win or not. But my cousin is the captain of the men's basketball team, so, maybe I should give a small shit about it. "Maybe. It'll be a shame if they won't." I answered and she nodded her head in agreement. "It has been the fifth time that our team won the championship, and it's really a big embarrassment if they'll not make it." She uttered and we both turned our heads behind us as someone greeted us. "Oh, look! It's Barbie and Ken." She spoke with a cheeky smile and I can feel that Ken is gritting her teeth. "It must be your favorite show when you were still a kid," Ken told her and put her hands in her jeans' pockets. I know that she is holding her temper when she does that. "Sorry, but nope. Barbies are just for losers." She replied that made both me and my best friend scoffed. I love playing with Barbie dolls when I was young, and my girls too. I don't believe that she hasn't tried playing those things or even owning one. "And, if you don't mind moving along your lil' asses. We need to post something there." She stated as she pointed the board behind us. "Oh, our bad. Go ahead. Come on, Ken, the nerdies need space for their nerdiness." I uttered and dragged Ken by the arm. "Well, speaking about nerds..." She stated and paused while giving me a look that says I am hella one. "I heard you wanna direct the play for our Lit. class. So, as the president of our class, I will be the one to assign positions for our group. And, if you want to be in that position, you will do me a favor." She continued, and how did she know that? Well, I have just directed the winning piece last year that was against all other 11th grade classes for our academy's yearly Short Film Fest. So, it'll be a big waste if I won't be directing the play and leading our group. But my huge problem is this redhead. She thinks that she is superior in our class, well, of course, she is the president of too many shits. I wonder if how can I make her look bad. "I feel it is kind of suicide if I will do you a favor. Not gonna happen, Porter. Direct it all you want or whoever you want to give the position. I'm doing fine being with the lighting team, props men, or whatever." I told her and she just kept smiling like an actual alligator. "Are you sure that you don't wanna hear the catch?" She insisted and I motioned her to spill. She better not make me her slave or kiss someone or... I don't know. Instead of saying something, she showed me the poster that she has in her hold. "Essay Writing Contest?" Ken read the heading and the redhead just wiggled her left eyebrow. "What would I do with an essay writing contest?" I asked her and she gave me an unimpressed look on her face, which is so hilarious for me. I'm not gonna laugh about it now. Maybe later. "Write an essay, and if you will win, you will be the director of our play. What do you think?" She explained and I just gave her a 'huh?' look on my face. "Are you out of your mind lately? Why the heck would I join a contest that could be sabotaged by the Environment Club President?" I babbled and she just stood there with a face that cannot be painted. I know I do a lot of complaining about things around me and I easily get cranky if I can find a flaw. "We don't do that. I only organize, I mean, we organize the activities. We have our teachers as judges and it could be a shame if the class' candidate for valedictorian will not join a contest like this. What do you say?" She explained and that makes sense. "Does that mean you'll join too?" I asked her and she told her companions to post the poster. She's also a candidate for the throne. "No, silly. Have you not been freaking listening even a sec? I Or. Ga. Nize. That means I can not join." She said with a little bit of annoyance which I find so cute on her. Wait, cute? No. I have not said that in my mind. Not at all. "Okay. But what if I won't win?" I asked her and I saw her face lightened. "Good question. You really don't trust your writing skills, don't you?" She uttered and asked which made my eyebrows met. Why am I spending my precious time with this being, by the way? "I'm just trying to make a safe decision here. I don't wanna end up with something unjust if it goes sideways." I told her and she let out a laugh. Wow, I never heard her laughed at me before because all she does is snicker. "You sneaky little Barbie Doll. Well, umm. If you'll win, I will give you the directing job, and if not, you will be the lead actress. Deal?" She replied and it just annoys me so much whenever she calls me a Barbie Doll. And, she does that ever since we met five years ago. "Wait, what? Lead actress?" I asked in disbelief and she just sighed. I really want to join every contest and do big jobs for the class, since I need extracurricular activities to gain points for our ranking by the end of the school year. I really need a full scholarship in college. "I'm starting to think that you are deaf." She mumbled and I got a glance of Ken crossing her arms on her chest while looking at the girl sharply. "But... Uh, fine. Deal." I said since I can not think of any other things to say. I need to win this. She smiled and let out a hand for me to shake. I looked at Ken and she seemed worried about the decision I made with the red Beelzebub. "Deal." We said in unison as I shook her soft cold hand. Is she nervous? "Alright, the theme will be announced on Monday in which you'll be given two hours to write a two thousand-word essay right after our class in the afternoon." She stated and I kinda feel somewhat uneasy. I hope she keeps her words. "You better keep your words, Nat," Ken spoke for me. Damn, I think she can read my mind. "Sure, I will. Have a nice day ahead, you two." She replied and walked away with her two friends. Well, I don't think she has friends. "I got a bad feeling about that devil, Gin," Ken let out as we head to our lockers. "Same, same, Ken. But she better not mess with me or she will get what she's looking for." I answered and opened my locker door. "Hey, bitches! How you doin'?" Beth greeted us like a drunk girl with Rue on her side. "Hi, girls!" We greeted them back and I groaned as I felt my hair being destroyed by no other than my asshole cousin. "Yow, Girls!" He greeted us as he just passed by with his group of friends. Probably just his teammates. We talked about little things before we went to each of our classes. Oh yes, later we'll be crashing the Burkinson's Club. --- "Why do you look so happy, Gin?" Ruby asked me as she took her seat beside my cousin who gave her a light kiss on the lips, while Beth and Ken sat beside me as they put their tray on the table. "Why? Am I not allowed to have a good mood?" I asked her back and she just shrugged. "Let me guess. You got the highest score on your long quiz in Social Science?" Beth asked and I shook my head. "Nope, not really the highest but, I got the same score with the ginger head. And, we almost failed. Ninety-five percent of the class actually didn't make it." I stated and their jaws fell on the floor. "I represent the failed ones," Paul let out as he raised a hand. That freaking teacher made a quiz that is very out of our lessons. He's a madman. "Well, that's totally great. At least, you knew that she is not all good about everything." Rue stated and the rest of them agreed. "Alright, so, about tonight... What time should we head to, you know... the B?" Beth asked as she opened her bottled water. "About six. We'll meet at my place and we'll head there together. We'll use my car." Ken said since she is our key to entering that hole. "Can I bring Leon with me?" Beth asked and we turned our heads to her. "Seriously?" I asked her and she just showed her pearly white teeth. "I'm pretty sure that Thaddeus will be there, right Ken?" She stated and I turned my head to Kendra. "Of course, he works there." She answered and I am definitely calm and relaxed right now. Hoo, hold it, Gin. "That's great, the---" Beth started but I cut her off. I can't hold it anymore. "I thought it will be a freaking 'girls' night out'? Girls. Girls. No offense, Paulo." I asked while emphasizing the girls' thing, and tapped my cousin who is cool with my rant. They should have informed me about bringing a boyfriend. "Umm... Well, ---" Someone started but I cut them off. "Should I really need to get myself a boyfriend too? Because I will just look like a lost puppy by then." I let out and paused to look at their faces. "Girls, you don't need to rub it on my face that I am a freaking loveless monster. I agreed to this agenda of ours because we could spend some time together and have some fun. But if you'll just be clinging with your boyfriends which I am very sure, for you to avoid some leeches to get near them, I'd rather drown in my lovely dream while burying my face in my Social Science book." I continued and they just sat there like lost kittens. I just felt sorry for them with this bitchy attitude I have. But, like, come on, who would not feel that way? "Yeah, she's right, Girls." My cousin agreed since he knew that I could have prioritized something else, rather than out in a place where you could just get drunk and do bullshits. There's a moment of silence and I think that no one has the courage to speak. "Well, if you want to bring 'em. It'll be fine. I'll just find something... to do with there. Umm, I'm sorry for the uh... Outburst." I uttered calmly and apologized. Yes, that is how fast my mood swings. "It's fine, Gin. We understand, and you are right. Sorry too." Beth said and held my left hand. That made me feel better. "Yeah, but seriously, Beth. You can bring Leon with you. I don't want you to have an issue on why the other one is at the club that could lead to some quarrel. Right?" I stated and she looked at me apologetically. "But I don't want you to---" She said but I cut her off. "I'll be fine. I promise. I could find something fun to do there. Like, hello, I am Georgina Vandross." I uttered and joked. We all laughed, and then, we proceeded to eat our lunch. --- "Kelsey, you will be the one to write the script. Jayden, you help her with the story-line. And uh, for the one to direct. Let's leave it on Tuesday. I still have something to sort out. And, the actors, well, after the script will be finished, we will be needing some of you to have an audition piece. Yep, we need to." The ever so active class president and the a.k.a leader of our group appointed and explained. Our group is composed of twelve members, and we will compete with the other two groups. The winning piece for this class presentation will be the one that we will use as our whole class entry for the upcoming SFF. And also, our grade in this subject depends on this play. "Uh, Nat, do we have specific criteria to follow or do you have some suggestions on what story we should be making?" Kelsey asked the thinking redhead. "Well, I'll give you the criteria later. I still have to ask Ms. Hess about that. And, for the plot, it's up to you both. We're definitely open to anything you think is great, unique, and original. I have trust in you." She answered and the girls nodded. It's a good thing that the teacher told us to create our own story. Well, Natalie Porter is really great at doing this kind of thing. I don't envy her, I just find it so incredible. She really is born a leader. All I need to do is to compete with myself because I need to be a better version of myself for me to surpass this ginger. Because I need to graduate as a top student. "So, uh... That's a wrap. But before we end this meeting, let me remind you all about our quarterly exam next week. Work your asses with studying our lessons and resist partying, clubbing, and some leisure. That can wait after the examinations. So, yeah. We are dismissed." She stated and I scoffed. I think she might have noticed me and she gave me that look like saying 'I'm watching you'. I don't give a shit to your words of wisdom, Ms. Perfect.
