Gemma POV I was stunned when I visited Mum. I expected her to be bandaged up and still in plaster, but I did not expect the dull, vacant eyes. Although I had been told she wouldn't remember me, it still hurt deeply, and it was hard to pretend I was a friend and be happy to see her. Alex was great. When I saw him at dinner, he did not push me and could see I was not in the mood to talk. I like our connection; we read each other's moods better. The king, not so much, and neither my Dad.
