It was fun.
The ten of us were all on the jetty, throwing burley and making the children giggle and get excited over the fish in the water. They were not upset that they missed one. They were too young to worry about this competition. The older children, mainly the boys, hauled in fish and crowed over their size, having the adjudicator rush over to check the fish and let the lad decide whether to throw it back or not when they were legal size.
Then Anita made her way to us, trying to be flirty, but what she was doing only turned my stomach; she did not tick any box that would pique my interest. If anything, it did the opposite.
