'I will be back in the morning, and we can go to breakfast together. Surprise the children. They will be so pleased to see you out and about again.' Pam gave me a quick kiss and left, tears streaming down her face. She assured me they were happy tears.
It was around midnight, and I was tired, barely able to stay awake as she filled me in on the day and where we were with the children and the king and queen being involved.
To get involved like this, they must be trying to pick up the slack; with me out of commission, no one could have predicted how long I would be out. I am fortunate.
