Chapter 9 Jo started at the Seattle Public Library. They directed her to the Puget Sound Business Journal’s annual summary of law firms. This was a far safer place to make rookie mistakes, well away from the New York law firms she eventually hoped to impress. Starting at the top of the list, she called each human resources department and asked for an informational interview. Out of the top ten firms, she managed to set one interview for that afternoon and two for the next morning. After visiting a stationery store to acquire a small leather notebook and a cheap, but professional-looking pen, she spent the rest of the day drafting up her list of questions.
