"Kai, what is happening?" My heart was beginning to pound inside my chest, and a certain dread was growing rapidly inside me. He said nothing and simply kept walking. I paused for several seconds. The thought of running away was wide and raging in my mind, but where was I supposed to run? And wouldn't that simply make everything worse for me?
I took a deep breath and reluctantly followed him down there anyway. I recognized the room I had been placed in when I first arrived there. But we walked past that door and walked deeper. I came across bars and cells similar to the ones in the castle. And the stench down their made my stomach curl in disgust and panic.
