As my pack gathered around me, I smiled at them. So, this was my pack, and suddenly, a surge of pride and joy filled my heart. Then I remembered something. So, I called Andy, Elder Serene, Elder Joseph, and Beta Philip.
All of them bent their heads. It was weird since they were older than me, but now they honored me so highly.
“Dear all Elders and Beta Philip, I have something to say.”
They stared at me and waited for me to say. Beta Philip and Elder Joseph’s faces were paler, but they bent their heads and said nothing.
“To make sure our pack goes smoothly, we need our people.” I looked at four of them. “I have decided that I’ll keep our current upper ranks, but I’ll review for middle and lower ranks to see if there are our pack members who deserve higher ranks.”
