I gasped to hear that. Then I sat on a chair there. I glanced at everyone. “Wait a minute! Shouldn’t it be Beta Philip who challenges for the Alpha position?” I stared at Beta Philip. “Isn’t it usually a Beta who will replace the Alpha?”
“Normally, yes, yet our situation is abnormal. If we refer to history, your father should be the current Alpha. However, Alpha Brandon took the position with his malice.” Andy placed his hands on my shoulders. “It’s your birthright to be the next Alpha. We have already discussed this, and all, including Beta Philip, agreed that it’s you who should do it.”
I took a deep breath, then nodded. “May I speak with Beta Philip alone?”
Andy, Elder Serene, and Elder Joseph left the room. I glanced at Beta Philip, who stared at me too.
