August wraps his arms around me the moment we see each other. It still feels strange — too much, too fast — but somehow, I'm starting to get used to it. Maybe. Maybe not. I don't even know anymore. There are too many emotions swirling inside me, none of them clear enough to grab onto. It's just this messy, tangled feeling sitting heavy in my chest. But this is my fate now — this is the path I chose, or the one that was chosen for me — and I guess I just have to accept it. Whether I want to or not. The heat wraps around me like a soft wall — thick and sticky, smelling like salt and something sweet I can't name. It clings to my skin, makes everything feel heavier, slower. After the hug, I just stand there, blinking into the blinding sun, feeling way too small for this endless sky stret
