Ivy jolted at the scream of Brook and turned her gaze to Damon who was glaring at him. She instantly knew what had happened and with the feeling of his powers ever so present, she needed no seer to explain to her. Her heart skipped and she turned to the other shareholders who were still very much confused on what was happening. Since they were not looking directly at Damon’s eyes they could only see Brook and watched as he paled and fell to the ground with his chair.
He did not want to believe that a man’s eyes could turn so dark, there was not a single colour in them and even the white part of his eyes were gone. But he was staring right at his face, he could see those eyes and the feeling that rose at the pit of his stomach and heart that only screamed ‘run’. which he tried to do and instead fell to the ground.
“Damon…” Aziza called out to him through a mind link.
“Damon, shut your eyes, you are scaring the man,” she said, making no move to go close to him. She had felt this first hand and in as much as she wanted to save Damon from falling out with the humans as she had done, the power that radiated from him stopped her from moving an inch closer. Which resulted in using the mind link alone.
“Damon, he is a simply human,”
“If the others notice what you really are, then the cops and the world itself would come after you,”
“Come off it,” she kept speaking. But if he heard her, he did not show. He simply kept his gaze on the man who had uttered rubbish against his Aziza and the thought of tearing him apart was all he could think of. Damon was gone, his demons that were well hidden behind closed walls were out and they were unwilling to be controlled so they pushed his human side behind those walls as well.
Damon was a prince, a true blood prince from a powerful lineage. And he was more than that, the most powerful that the supernatural had ever seen. All these years, where he took pills, went for therapy and treatment for a strange sickness he had, he had only locked his demon side behind a wall where it was unable to crawl out. Just like werewolves, their beasts were a part of their soul and demons also had a soul. He was just not a demon but a higher demon and not just a higher demon but he had more than one of them inside him. To have successfully shut them out, shut down his power and a part of him, he had weakened his demon side. That subconsciousness had died too and his human side had ruled his mind and body for so long, but his demons were beginning to rage. And with the reappearance of their mate beside them, they grew powerful and did all they could to take charge whenever they could. This was simply one of the few times that they could do that. They pushed his human side behind the wall that they had been locked up in so he could feel what it was like to be subdued and caged without any freedom.
Damon started towards Brook, his gaze intense on him and blood lust so high, nothing else mattered. When Brook saw his movement, he jumped up from where he had fallen and ran to the extreme edge of the conference hall, falling and getting up along the way. No one understood what was happening with the shareholder who had seemed to be the strongest amongst them. A smile made a curve on Damon’s lips at the sight of his miserable state. The fear that oozed out of him was simply refreshing and he was dancing with the refreshing feeling. Ignoring the gaze and questions he was creating and the trouble his human side would be if he was caught.
“Please…” Brook stuttered and started to crawl on his back when he noticed something that was beyond human’s comprehension.
“Please…don’t…don’t kill me,” he pleaded and tried to get away from the beast but Damon only smiled and took steady strides towards him. Enjoying the very fact that he was the hunter and his prey was so foolish.
“Damon…” Aziza yelled, finding the situation a terrible sight that might get him in a lot of trouble.
“Damon…” she yelled more fiercely, making the demon halt. For the first time, he heard the voice of his other half, his soul mate and it completely took his heart. He stopped his hunt and turned his gaze towards the woman who he knew too well. Her blonde hair and blue eyes could not hide her from his demons. His dark eyes made her unconsciously take a step back and her heart skipped.
“Let him take control,” she pushed out, trying so hard to get to him through his mind. Like an order, he gave her a nod, closed his eyes and ran back inside. But not behind the walls that had shut him out for years.
When Damon returned, he could only look at the petrified Ivy, confused.
“Sir…” she cleared her throat and pushed herself towards him. She could feel his confusion and could understand that his demons had been in full control, he might not know what had happened. But he did know. He had fully watched a movie of himself and like a show, he watched everything from where he was buried under.
“Ivy…” he ran his hand through his hair, then he looked around. Brook was still on the floor, pleading and the other shareholders were just as confused. It was almost like he had gone unconscious in a few minutes and lost track of time yet he knew all that happened around him. Only, he was not the one to have done those things. But he was quick witted. He turned back to Ivy somewhat worried that he had made her panic, but she gave him a faint smile, swallowed hard and spoke.
“We would buy out his shares,” she said, referring to Brook. He gave her a nod, turned to the entrance and started towards it, leaving everyone else behind.
Ivy breathed out in relief when he left, then she turned to Brook who was still on the floor petrified. With a charming smile, she gave off the feeling of friendliness and knelt down beside him, then she looked him straight in the eye, caging him.
“You did not see anything unusual, today,” she compelled him.
On getting to his office, Damon sat on his seat and used both of his hands to cover his face while he tried to understand what had happened and why it had happened. Nothing came to his mind except for Brook and his outrageously confident statement. The rest was blank and it was troubling and the only person he thought of was Aziza.
“Aziza….” Her name rang loud in her head. She jerked not intending to and tried to wave off what she had seen earlier and felt earlier. She had successfully sent the shareholders away and was now back in her office.
“What is it?”
“Meet me at home,” Damon ordered, got up from where he sat and turned to the door. Again, Ivy jerked at his sudden presence and mentally slapped herself for it. It was just so hard to wash away the feeling that he brought with him, it was the most powerful she had ever felt and it had been embedded in her mind that he was powerful, so much more powerful than her. And reckless too.
Damon frowned when he noticed the way she jerked. That would mean that she had seen what had happened and whatever that was, had scared her. He would never want to scare her. Strangely, he wanted to scare the entire world, not her. Definitely not her.
“Get ready, I need to drop you off,” he ordered and turned to Sloan’s office. He would be away for a while and he would prefer Sloan to take care of things when he was not there. She always did her best and he was rather pleased with her work, and honestly, she did not need to be told of her duties. But the other reason he thought of seeing her was for Ivy’s sake. A lot of people were pointing hands towards the red hair and towards her and just in case he got caught up with Aziza, which he believed that he would, he needed to be sure that someone other than him was looking out for Ivy. They were friends, it would be easier.
Ivy picked up some files, her phones, tablets and bag, then she shut down her system and waited for Damon to return before they both left. Eyes turned to them when they left the office and suspicion turned into whispering as most began to wonder what kind of relationship the both of them would have.
Damon said nothing throughout the ride and so did Ivy. She preferred the silence and stared out through her window most of the time just to forget how Damon’s demons had taken control. She wondered how powerful he could be but did not have to think so much, since she was still going to meet him as Aziza. That also brought back a lot of trouble to her heart. She clearly remembered their fight and how it had turned out and could not help but wonder what their meeting would be like.
When she arrived at her apartment. She turned to him, gave him a smile and said a simple goodbye before she stepped out of the car. Damon watched as she entered her apartment and grumpily drove off in silence. The car seemed to be empty and lonely with her disappearance and he hated it.
Ivy found Maddie making dinner when she entered but paid her no attention and ran straight to her room where she quickly had a shower. She thought of meeting Russel to discuss her wig problem just in case the cops came back again. she was sure that they would. But that would be after her meeting with Damon. Just as she finished taking her bath, a knock came to her door, making her groan. She knew who it was before anything else and was beginning to not like her roommate even more. Maddie was a baddie who liked a lonely life, that was why she did not care about sharing an apartment with her. But it seemed, Sloan had infected her with her attitude of intrusion. She would have ignored the knock if she did not perceive meatballs, a glass of wine and spaghetti. Her stomach grumbled instantly and she tried to recall the last time she had eaten. Seeing no need to chase a good meal away, she opened the door. Fortunately, the wig and lenses were still on her.
“I heard you come in,” Maddie said and walked into the room in Sloan’s manner while holding a tray of food.
“I didn’t ask you to come in,” Ivy replied dryly and shut the door.
“I guess you are hungry, should that matter?” the roommate sat down and turned to her. Ivy flashed her a glare for her confidence, but sat down beside her and began to eat almost immediately. She didn’t care about Maddie and definitely did not bother to engage in a conversation with her at all. But the other did not think that way and once or twice brought up certain issues that she replied with either a yes, a no, an I don’t know or a simple shrug of her shoulders. Maddie would have taken her attitude to heart but didn’t. Because she recalled that she had wronged her by calling the cops on her and secondly, she had understood that Ivy was strange. She was both cold and warm. She only brought her dinner and was waiting for Sloan who had been whining about how hungry she was before she had hers.
“Are you going out?” she asked when she noticed Ivy searching through her wardrobe. Silence followed her question and the other lady made no attempt to answer her.
“Come on, don’t be such a grouch.” She mumbled at her attitude. With a sigh and a lot of held up annoyance, Aziza turned to her.
“Yes. I’m going to see my sister, the one who had the surgery,” she lied.
“Can you leave already?” she added before Maddie would go on to ask another question. Without trying to annoy her even more, Maddie gave her a nod and left but still found Ivy’s attitude strange. Very strange.
The moment she left, she took off her wig, lenses and put on her usual black attire before she sped out of the house and into the streets of New Orleans in a dash. The wind blew against her, giving her freedom and excitement which she had missed all day while her senses heightened and she took note of her environment. After the incident the last time, she could feel that her abilities were better and heightened. Russel had truly been draining her all this time.
Shaking off the nasty feeling of his betrayal, she ran through the gates of Damon, into his house and straight to his room where he was standing at the balcony. He had changed into a different, casual wear and looked exceptional. His scent filled her lungs like life itself and it made her knees buckle underneath her for a moment there. Then it hit her again.
Her skin went pale, her heart skipped and fear descended when strange, strong power washed over her, making her freeze in place. With so much power, her demons scurried away and whimpered inside her and her senses became alert. The power of a Velaryon had always been one with the devil itself and also with the gods but this, this alone choked her and threatened to squeeze the life out of her with just his mere presence.
“Do you really not want me to such an extent?” Damon’s voice came powerful, cold yet so sweet to the ears. It left a spark in her heart and a want within her to always hear him speak.
“Damon…” Aziza’s voice came out breathlessly. She could feel his powers and with that feeling, she seemed vulnerable and at a loss.
“You had a spell cast on me, so I can never be able to tell that Aziza and Ivy are the same.” He smiled at the sound of her voice and allowed a lot of thoughts, lustful thoughts and wishes cloud him. Aziza raised a brow and stared at his back, confused at what he was saying. But more confused with the way he spoke.
“Don’t act so ignorant, dear mate,” he turned around, facing her for the first time. She gasped and took a step away from him when she saw his eyes dark as abyss again staring back at her with the smile of an enchanted prince, on his lips.
“Damon…” she called out, understanding that his demons had taken control again.
“I’m here…” he smiled and started towards.
“No…. give him control…” she snapped, really not liking the insensible part of him. The smile on his face disappeared and a frown replaced it.
“Why? So, you can look him in the face and reject him?” his voice turned cold, so cold, it roared ‘danger’ at her.
“I won’t…do that” she protested.
“But you did that earlier…”
“That was for your safety,” she barked at him.
“Do I look like I need saving?” he growled arrogantly and took steps closer to her till he was right in front of her, basking in her scent. His human side might be ignorant of a lot of things, but he was the supernatural side of himself. He knew too much, he knew his mate, he knew his powers and hated his human side for suppressing him.
She gulped, hating the closeness and tried to move away, but he wrapped his hand around her waist, pulling her to him and caging her within his embrace. Aziza froze, all kinds of thoughts running through her head and one more standing out so bad. Getting away from him.
“Get your hands off me or….”
“Stop being such a brute, you won’t hurt me…” he interrupted with a smug. It earned him a glare for she knew that he was right. The situation was sticky, and as much as she would want to get away from him, she wouldn’t want to hurt him.
“Stop being such a jackass, and let go,” she growled and tried to pull his hand off, but with his demons, his strength increased and his grip on her was unmovable.
“Why would I?” his breath fanned her face while his voice seemed to have come closer that when she looked up at him, his lips were just inches away from her and without prior notice, he crashed it against hers.
