His goals against her goals

Damon’s heart left his body when he saw Aziza slump to the ground immediately after. He turned to Russel, scared that he might have done something to her, but found him on the ground as he took a deep breath, then exhaled. “What did you do?” he ran to the man. “Get her off the floor and get me a cup of water, would you?” Russel ordered, ignoring the question he had been asked as he got up from the floor. A victorious feeling spread around his heart and a new determination and hope for Aziza surfaced. He could save her after all. Damon flashed him a glare, hating the very tone he used with him, but allowed it to slide since he was in no mood to get angry. He looked down at Aziza and found that her pale skin was getting better and the bruises she gave herself while she was thrashing were healing. Taking it that she was fine, he gently picked her up in her arms and drew her closer to his body, protectively. Her strange scent filled his nostrils and made him relax while his eyes ran over her body just to see if she had any injuries. When he found none, his eyes went back to her face and for a moment, he just stood still and watched her face without attempting to put her down. She had given him such a scare, it was tormenting to have watched her go through so much pain and remained so helpless. But at least, she was better and he was grateful. “Hmm hmmm” Russel cleared his throat, seeing how Damon stared at her. He could not understand what was going on, and did not want to believe what he thought he saw in his eyes. Damon came off his world and turned Aziza to the bed, where he gently laid her like the bed itself would hurt her. His eyes could not come off her face as he stared at her. For a reason, she looked different than earlier. she looked peaceful, and no longer had the haunted and serious look she always had during the day. Her long lashes made her look even more gorgeous, than he had previously found her. Her nose was sculpted perfectly, small and pointed as it sat on her face like she had surgery done on them and her lips revealed its rosiness when she did not have it in a frown. He smiled, finding peace and warmth by just watching her and allowing the time to go by without a care in the world. “She is only sleeping,” her uncle added as he watched Damon pay extra attention to her, attention that was more than necessary. “And you are bent on waking her up,” Damon retorted within gritted and turned to the man who was bent on ruining the peaceful moment he was having by simply watching. “I’m bent on having food and water to drink,” Russel retorted annoyingly as well and Damon flashed him a glare. He was liking the old man less and less every minute but for that moment, he would tolerate him, only because he had saved Aziza from her torment. Reluctantly, he turned to the door and started towards it, and Russel followed behind. Quietly, they headed downstairs and towards the dinning. The staff had a strange look in their eyes and they waited to see the red hair in fear but when she did not come down, they all breathed a sigh of relief while Damon started towards the dinning. Russel followed and sat beside him, like he somehow owned the place and soon enough appetisers were served. Fried calamari served with malarana sauce and parmesan cheese. Then the main course was brought, crawfish Etouffee, accompanied by strawberry cake for dessert. The whole dish looked like Damon was preparing for a banquet. “Ohh, wow….” Russel exclaimed seeing the very exquisite dinner and took a glass of water first. Then he gulped it in. “You have this for dinner? Were you expecting a guest or something?” he asked, digging into the food immediately. Damon frowned and flashed him a glare, the food was never for him, but Aziza. He never knew that she was going to come but he kept his fingers crossed and only wished that she would. If she had not gone into what she went through, he would rather prefer to be seated at the same table as her. “Do you want to eat or would you prefer I throw you out?” he snapped at him. “You could have thrown me out before I saved her from her demons,” Russel retorted, finding Damon’s attitude and Aziza’s temper similar. Why they could not tolerate him, he had no idea but he enjoyed teasing them. “She is your relative, you should have saved her nonetheless,” “That’s it. why you were standing there, like an i***t, she had to suffer long before I saved her, allow me to eat this food in peace or go join her upstairs,” he snapped. Damon went quiet in an instance, his statement was like a blow to his face. He had truly felt helpless and could not have saved her even if he wanted to. He was simply too powerless, too clueless and because of that, she had suffered unbearably. Suddenly, the urge to never let that happen over took him and his interest in the supes rekindled like a burning flame that had died and only just resurfaced. “Tell me about your kind.” He ordered and dug into his food, ignoring those that contained cheese. Russel turned to him, shocked that he had asked for such. He had thought that Damon was not interested in whatever the supernatural had to bring, he did not even believe and had thought that he would never grow interested, not so soon at least. But now, that it looked like Aziza was getting strangely under his skin, he became wary and nervous. He wanted her out of the things concerning supes, he wanted her to be normal and happy and the journey had only just begun. Damon’s new interest would only hinder what he had planned and he was not willing to take that risk. “There is nothing to know about my kind, more than you already know,” he responded and continued with his dinner like it was the most important thing to him at that very moment. “What are you?” Damon asked and dropped his spoon, suddenly losing appetite to eat. First of all, the man before him was annoying, secondly, he didn’t like his attitude and tone and thirdly, he was still worried for Aziza and the feeling of helplessness still lingered in his heart. “A wizard,” Russel responded between gritted teeth, wishing that he would drop the topic. Damon had to remain ignorant and unaware, he had to remain uninterested so Aziza could remain stagnant and unsuccessful in her goals while the potion takes hold of her and rid her of her powers. “And there are werewolves, vampires and….” He turned to Russel again. His interest was slowly growing as he thought about how much help he might be to Aziza if he knew about the things of the supernatural. “Demons,” Russel dropped his spoon as well, seeing that Damon was not going to drop it and flashed him a glare. “What is Aziza then?” he flashed Russel a smile. He had left the food, and he was happy about it, and since Russel was getting a taste of what it was like to be very annoying, he felt pleased. “The things of the supernatural shouldn’t concern you, Damon,” “You are human, focus on being Damon Roxwell and let the supernatural handle their business,” Russel got up from where he sat. Damon frowned and stared at the man, slightly confused and slightly annoyed. “I never allowed a supernatural being into my home, Russel.” His voice went cold and dark. “My life was peaceful and quiet and I never got involved with your kind till Aziza came along. You all got involved with me and not the other way round and your niece doesn’t seem to buy the idea of simply being Damon Roxwell. I thought the both of you were on the same page.” Russel shut his eyes, seeing that he was going too far and tried to retake his words, but words when spoken could not be taken back. “It’s just a piece of advice,” he decided to go on. Aziza had a goal in mind, and he only just created a goal for himself, ruining Aziza’s goal. No one was going back to the supes, no one was being prince and she was going to turn human. “Ignore Aziza and don’t get tangled up with her and her motive to use you. You are only a means to an end and you would die if all this continues. Once she has made use of you and achieved her aim, you would be dumped or killed by her. Do not for one moment think you are special.”
