Cornered in an alley

“Is something wrong?” Damon stood up from where he sat when he saw the panic look on her face. Aziza turned to the man beside her and opened her mouth to speak to tell him all that was happening and how he needed to get his powers back quickly. But looking at the man whose look was like that of the devil himself, one created out of beauty yet his eyes held confusion and ignorance, she swallowed the words that she wanted to say and turned back to the door. Russel had asked her to remain inside, mainly for her own safety. No supernatural was supposed to be in the world of the humans, those who remained were hidden and we're blending perfectly and normally with the humans. None would change or go out of his or way to make use of their power and even if they did, they would not stand outside Damon’s house and watch her. “Had she been found already?” Aziza’s thoughts whispered as she thought of the possibility. No one knew she survived, no one knew she was alive and she would prefer it remained that way till it was time to fully execute her plans. Revenge was better that way. But even as she thought of it, something terrifying settled at the pit of her stomach. The dreadful feeling that was as familiar as what she felt on the same day, she ran away from those after her life. She could almost taste the hate, the fear, the scorn that emanated from their dreadful gaze. she could feel the killer instincts coming from behind her, she could hear the wicked thoughts in their hearts. Their hunger for blood was more than a vampire who only just turned. All those feelings they felt over a girl who only just wanted to live her life. She remembered the darkness that overwhelmed her, the dread in her stomach, the feeling that was worse than fear in her heart. Like she was only drowning and wishing to come out from underneath the water where she was constantly being pulled to drown and die. That dread came back with a stronger feeling that expressed her displeasure. Slowly, goosebumps filled her skin and cold crawled up her spine as memories of those beast resurfaced in her mind. The earthy smell that reminded her of the forest ground, filled with pine and dampness made flashes of those beasts and their furs resonate mightily in her mind. The mightiness of them, their claws as sharp as a two-edged sword, had always found its way to her skin. Their razor-sharp teeth that could break bones and end a man’s life so easily always wanted a taste of her blood and most times, they got it. She remembered them very well. Her mind picked up all the memories she had of them like they were there in the presence. But of course, they were there, a wolf was close by and she had been discovered. “No,” tears suddenly burned the back of her eyes as her legs buckled underneath her and she fell to the floor. “Aziza,” Damon rushed over to her and picked her up before she could get to the ground. It was like déjà vu and it resonated in his mind. He helped her back to her full height and stood in front of her shocked to have seen a side of her weakness. Aziza remembered the place she was, she remembered who she was. Aziza could not be scared of them, not again. She pushed back her tears and lifted her gaze to meet the eyes of Damon. His eyes held concern, fear, worry and shock and it made her feel somewhat better. She pushed back whatever tears that burned her eyes and turned her attention to her uncle. Her thoughts searched for him in the middle of a million thoughts. He was a mere wizard, one who was not even as strong as the normal witches who grew up with magic all around them. He could not handle a werewolf by himself. “Russel,” she called out, her thoughts reaching him in panic. No reply came back and her panic increased. “You better say something Russel,” she snapped, fearing the worse for him. Yet no reply came back. Scared, confused and annoyed, she started pacing to and fro. She had to remain hidden, no one had to know that she was alive and no one must get a whiff of Damon, or it would all be gone. Everything she had worked for, all those years of protecting him would be over. But she could not remain hidden, not when her uncle could be in terrible danger. Frustrated, anxious and confused, she growled loudly and kicked against a stool. “Russel,” she groaned but still no reply came forward. That did it all for her. Turning to the confused Damon who was staring at her like she had suddenly gone mad, she contemplated on what to do. Leaving him behind with no one to protect him, shielding herself or going for her uncle. She stared at him for a while, she could see the question in his brown eyes, but she had no time for that. What was she supposed to say to him? too many things, but it could not be at that moment. “Stay indoors, Damon,” she made her decision and turned to the entrance of the house. “Wait, what?” he followed behind her, getting even more confused as more questions arose in his mind. “Can you at least tell me what is going on?” “There is no time,” she replied without stopping to look back at him. “Then where are you going? I thought…” He swallowed the words that were going to complete his sentence when she stopped abruptly and turned to him. Her red hair flying in the air and brushing lightly against his face as she turned. “Stay indoors,” she ordered without attempting to explain further. He frowned at her and watched her turn her back to him once again. The sight of her mere back made something strike his heart in displeasure and he just could not accept it. “I’m coming with you,” he voiced out and followed behind her. Aziza groaned and stopped in her tracks once more, then she turned to him with a hard look on her face and her eyes deep in furry. “This is not child’s play, Damon.” “Stay indoors,” she ordered again and turned back to the entrance of the house. “And I said no,” he roared at her like he did not just hear what she said. Her demons immediately burst into the surface and she spun around with speed and slammed him to the nearest wall. Guards immediately brought out their guns and pointed it at her when they saw their boss was in danger. The impact almost broke his back and his head and he groaned. But she had no time to play the pity game while her uncle was out there, silent. “Aziza,” he groaned and tried to push himself out of the wall, but she placed the back of her hand on his chest and pushed him back, making the impact even harder. His head this time hit hard against the wall and it caused a wave of dizziness to flood him. “Stop being stubborn,” she growled within gritted teeth. For a moment, her voice sounded different, too different from the one he knew. It was empty and hollow and it made fear crawl over his skin. He opened his eyes for a moment and saw the deadly dark eyes that had those red rings around her pupils. Instead of it to send fear into his heart, it only made him relax. “You can at least tell what is out there, rather than being a control freak,” he mumbled. She froze and her anger subsided only for a bit. She took her hand off his chest and a feeling of regret washed all over her. He pushed himself out of the wall that felt like it had become one with his back and touched the back of his head for signs of blood. The guards dropped their gun down when they saw that she was no longer trying to kill Damon but they did not leave completely, out of fear that she might come back to hurt him. “Werewolf,” she mumbled to his hearing and his eyes snapped to her. His mother had already told him the story, his entire family believed in the supernatural, he had a guardian who could do something even an android could not do, yet he found it hard to believe that such beings existed. “What?” “I don’t know why he is here, but please…” her voice became soft revealing the concern in them as she thought about all that could go wrong starting with Russel. “Please, stay in here,” she added with an aching heart. The red ring in her eyes was no longer there and for the very first time, he saw something other than anger within them. Fear. But they pleaded with him, they urged him to stay behind even when he did not want to. “Okay,” he sighed and lowered his gaze. “Lock the doors, and if you feel something going wrong, call out to me,” she turned to the door instantly, coming back to her usual self. Aziza ran out of the house and into the very streets. Her eyes glanced back to the very building she was standing with her uncle and found that he was no longer there. Her heart picked up as she ran to the exact spot. Picking up his scent, she followed it to a dark alley and her heart picked up even more when the smell of blood, earth, musk and Russel mixed into one. “Russel,” she called out in the darkness and squinted her eyes so her sight could adjust to the darkness. “Get…. get out of here,” the weak voice of her uncle came back weakly just at the same time she found him, lying on the ground. “Russel….” She yelled and ran to him. Her heart was pounding inside her chest as she started thinking of the worse. Whereas, the exact thing to be scared of ran out of her thoughts. “You knucklehead,” she squatted beside him and shut her eyes. His clothes were torn and his skin had claw marks all over. Blood was all over his body and he looked like he would die in just about any time. His heartbeat was not as loud, but it was beating, weakly yet steadily and that filled her with a bit of relief. She lifted his head and placed it on her leg as fear consumed her. The memories of loss came rushing back. Her mother had looked exactly as he had looked right before she died and it was only because she had been too late. “Get….out…” his voice came weak and his bloody hand touched her cheek. She opened her eyes and met his, then the growl came. Her heart skipped as she immediately got up from where she sat and turned around to face the oppressors that had come to ruin her peace. A werewolf was right there, his eyes as bright as the sun, the amber in them almost glowing and his furs the brightest of brown. Rage filled her system as the memories of what she knew of them resurfaced. Hate and rage mixed with the blood in her veins and it plumaged mightily through them. “You should never have come here,” Her powers busted out of her and her eyes went to its full colour as her words came out with the intent to kill. She charged towards him with the speed of light. Werewolves were bigger than normal and their strength could knock you out in one goal. She had only a little advantage against them and that was her speed. Aiming for his chest as her claws elongated and pushed into his furs, through his skin and then his inside. A loud howl of pain came out of the very werewolf as she pulled out his heart from his chest and moved away. His howl came to an instant halt then it fell like a lump to the floor while she held onto the bloody heart. She glared at the werewolf for a while with hate and disgust, before she turned to her uncle. He was no longer at the spot she had left him and neither was there a trace of him. “Russel,” she called out, her heart picking up again. “This isn’t funny, Russel,” she yelled and sniffed the air for him. But the smell of the very creature she killed clogged the atmosphere like the very air she breathed. “Looking for him,” a manly voice yelled loudly into the night. She lifted her eyes to the direction the voice came from. A man was standing at the very top of a building close by naked in his full form. Masculine, huge and definitely a wolf. And Russel, he held at the edge of the building, ready to throw him off to his death. She smirked, showing an air of arrogance and confidence while her heart was about to die. Then she ran towards him with her superspeed, kicked him out of the very building and took hold of Russel before he fell. She pulled him away from the edge and placed him in a safer place while making sure that he was still breathing, then she ran back to the place the man had fallen. He was still on the ground with his arms, neck and legs facing the wrong direction. She squatted down to his level and took hold of his head to take a closer look at his face. When a peculiar whizzing sound came to her ears. She got up to her full height and readied herself but howling sounds, lots of howls, so many of them that proved that the werewolves were so much more hit her ears. The sound of their howling shook the alley and city, it was so loud, like an entire pack came for her that it overtook the whizzing sound she was preparing for. But she knew what a pack was, and knew that the wolves there were only spies. Panicked, Aziza stood up and looked around. Then she saw them, their eyes glowed, as they came out from the very dark areas, they had all hidden. The sight of them filled her with rage and her demons came to view instantly as she readied herself for the fight of supernatural beings. Then, something sharp pierced through her chest from behind. The pain soared and her powers instantly disappeared, then the taste of blood filled her tongue.
