(Aspen POV) My bedroom door flew open. “Please,” Winter said, breathless. Holly barreled in behind her, cheeks pink, eyes shining. “Aspen. Aspen. Aspen.” I set my book down. “Why are you chanting my name.” “Because it’s important,” Holly declared. Winter climbed onto the edge of my bed. “We want a movie night.” I waited. “With Slade,” Winter added. I stared. “No.” Holly gasped. “Why.” “Because it’s late.” Holly leaned closer, voice low. “Slade misses me.” “Slade told you that.” “He didn’t have to,” she said proudly. “I’m his best friend.
