MARA'S POV
I felt a tickle slide down my chin and I instinctively lifted my hands to wipe my face, but something tugged at my arm. I winced, glancing down to see the IV tube sticking out of the tape.
For a second, I didn’t understand, but then it hit me.
I was still here.
“Oh, no," I croaked as everything came rushing back.

“You're finally awake," a voice said beside me.
I turned my head slowly to Lila, sitting on the steel chair by my bed. Her tired eyes rested in mine and a coffee cup laid untouched on the tray atop the bedside cart.
“Thought you were going to sleep forever," she said with a smile that slowly faded. "You scared me, Mara. You just… collapsed. What happened?”
