Chapter 24 THE LINE WE CROSSED Mara's POV I arrived at the hospital earlier than usual with hopes that the quiet halls would steady my mind. Even the scent of disinfectant that clung to virtually everything still couldn't hide the mask of sour taste rising at the back of my throat. What the hell was all this? I walked through a hallway, using the walls by the side as support and counting breaths until the nausea passed. "This is getting harder to hide," I muttered to myself. But I couldn't quit.
