Chapter 10 Alexander's POV By the time we got to the Blackwood Estate, my jaw was tight enough to ache. Ruger neatly parked by the front steps, and I stepped out without a single word, only muttering a faint, "Good night, Ruger." He nodded, still choosing wisely not to speak. I stormed up the front steps and pushed the door open. The house was still lit, silent except for the steady hum of the grandfather clock. And there–on the couch–was Mother.
