CHAPTER 78 MARA’S POV I slowly made my way up the stairs, trying my best to ignore the pain flaring up my bones. I slipped into my room and closed the door behind me. It clicked shut and I finally let out the pent up breath I was holding. My fingers uncurled from the doorknob and I turned to my room, taking in its new look. A faint smell of dust and lavender filled the air, twisting my guts. I looked at my old candle from two weeks ago–burned down to nothing, still sitting etched on my bedside table like I had left it. Everything was familiar, yet time had left little changes that I couldn't help but notice. I lifted my hand to the switch and flipped it on.
