It's been over a week since Elijah brought me here. Over a week, since he told me what he is. Showed me what he is, and I'm still not over it. I don't think there will ever come a time when I will be over it.
I know I spent all that time going through books and reading journals on what he truly is, but to have seen it with my own two eyes, to have watched him transform right before me was a whole different thing entirely.
My heart still staggered every time I saw him.
Maybe that was why he gave me space. Perhaps he knew just what happened to my heart every time I saw him. I didn’t lie when I told him I was afraid, but even then, I didn't think anywhere else was safer than where he was.
