Tori’s POV
I was nervous. I toyed with the idea of going back, telling him there was nothing I could do, and making a dive for it while I still could.
Even as we pulled into the venue, I was still not sure I wanted to be amongst them—in such a powerful place.
A hand gently slid between mine, his calloused fingers slipping into my hand as he pulled me closer, nudging me to walk forward.
The butterflies in my stomach immediately gained attention, dancing around until I felt heady.
I wanted to believe that this gesture of his was mainly because we were now at the event and not because he cared for me. It was better for me to believe that anyway—it helped my sanity.
