“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Margot, I’m fine. Brandon has given me a few days off to recuperate, and Dorian’s company and the coven are handling tracking down whoever planted the device on my car,” Max assured.
“You’re sure!?” Margot asked again.
“YES!”
“Okay, geez, no need to scream at me.”
“Sweetie, I know you’re worried, but I’m okay. It’s not the first time someone has tried to blow me up. Demons do it all the time,” Max replied nonchalantly.
“That’s different!” Margot shouted.
“I know. But I’m telling you, I’m good. Enjoy your vacation with Fury. Enjoy it for both of us.”
“Okay. I love you. Call me if you need anything.”
“I love you, too. And I won’t. Bye.”
“B—” Max hung up before Margot could say her goodbyes.
“See, she’s fine, right?” Fury asked as he looked at her
