“You can’t be serious, Max,” Margot said to her sister.
“I am most definitely serious. And it makes sense why he would,” Max replied.
“What do you mean?”
“Come on, you don’t actually need me to explain it, do you?” Margot pursed her lips, thought about it, and then shook her head. “I’m thinking this is why Miranda paired you with a mate, something she rarely, if ever, does.” Margot nodded and was about to respond when an alarm sounded.
“What is that?” Margot asked.
“That’s the alarm Stuard set up for the barrier around the house,” Max replied, and pulled up a holographic image of the front yard. “Oh, you’ve got to be sh*tting me. What is he doing here!?” Max snarled when she saw it was Ethan.
